Sapporo hotels with connecting rooms you can book in advance are easier to find than in most Japanese cities: six of the seven hotels below put a connecting room on their own page as a named room type. Sapporo Prince Hotel (Book Sapporo Prince) joins two 21m² twins through an interior door on floors 14–16 and also sells a dedicated connecting-room plan. Sapporo Grand Hotel (Book Sapporo Grand Hotel) lists a single 70m² connecting room for up to 5 guests, with a washing-area bath listed for the 40m² room only. The condition that changes the answer is layout: two ordinary twin rooms behind one door suit two adults who each want their own room, while Sapporo Grand’s 30m² + 40m² pair gives the most floor area.

Connecting, Adjoining and “Same Floor” Are Three Different Requests

A connecting room has an interior door between two units, so your group can walk between them without entering the corridor. An adjoining room sits next to another room with no door between them, and a same-floor request promises nothing about the layout. Only the first can be bought as a product, which is why this page lists only hotels whose own pages name a connecting room.

We read the Japanese and English room pages of Sapporo hotels around the station, Odori and Susukino in October 2026. We kept seven that publish a connecting room with a size, a capacity or a booking method. Hotels that mention connecting rooms only in an aggregator’s facility list are left out.

Of the 7 Sapporo hotels above, 6 give the connecting room its own page and 4 give a way to book the connecting room itself (Sapporo Prince, Sapporo Grand and Tsubaki online; Keio Plaza Sapporo by phone). 4 state that each room keeps its own bathroom (Sapporo Prince, Washington Plaza, karaksa and Tsubaki). Sapporo Grand lists a washing-area bath for the 40m² room only and does not describe the 30m² room’s bathroom, and Keio Plaza Sapporo does not say (checked October 2026). Grand Mercure carries only a room-type label.

One 70m² Room or Two Ordinary Rooms Joined by a Door

The word “connecting” covers two different products in Sapporo, and the quickest way to tell them apart is whether the two rooms are the same size. Sapporo Prince, Washington Plaza and karaksa describe two normal twin rooms of about 21m² each with a door between them, and each room has its own bathroom (also stated by Tsubaki, whose pair totals 80m²). Sapporo Grand and Keio Plaza Sapporo describe a larger set where one room is much bigger than the other (30m² plus 40m², or 134.1m² plus 38.2m²), and Sapporo Grand lists a washing-area bath for the 40m² room only.

  • Bookable here means the official site gives a way to book that room type (a reserve button, a plan, or a phone line); it is not a guarantee of your dates. Four hotels do. We did not complete a booking, so availability for your night is still the hotel’s answer.
  • karaksa’s capacity depends on the pair. The Standard Twin page lists connecting rooms for up to 6 (“最大6名様”) and also says many connecting rooms take up to 4, so it is up to 6 or up to 4 depending on which rooms are combined; the page does not say which pair takes six. Ask which pair you are getting before you rely on six.
  • Keio Plaza Sapporo and Grand Mercure are the least certain. Keio Plaza Sapporo takes bookings for this room by phone only. Grand Mercure labels one Classic Twin type “Interconnecting Available” on Accor’s page but publishes no count or booking rule.
  • Layouts vary. Tsubaki says its photos and floor plans are examples and the layout may differ by floor or room.

Sapporo Prince’s plan page lists children aged 1 to under 12 who share a bed (up to 4 children alongside 4 adults; checked October 2026, and the plan page lists no fee for this), a useful number if you are comparing it with booking two ordinary rooms for a family of five.

What to Ask When You Book

Because the pages do not say whether you can pick the pair or only request it, write the request in Japanese in the booking comments or an email, with the dates and the number of adults and children:

  • コネクティングルームを希望します(○月○日・大人○名・子ども○名)。 (“I would like a connecting room: date, adults, children.”)
  • 2室の間は内扉で行き来できますか? (“Can we walk between the two rooms through an interior door?”)
  • バスルームはそれぞれの部屋にありますか? (“Does each room have its own bathroom?”)
  • 片方の部屋だけキャンセルできますか? (“Can we cancel just one of the two rooms?”)

Ask for the reply in writing and show it at check-in. None of the pages we read says whether one side of a pair can be cancelled alone.
