Stay Yokohama-Side If the Expo Is the Priority
Shin-Yokohama is the right base for expo-focused visitors: shinkansen arrivals, direct Sotetsu access to the venue, and the most hotel options per station-distance ratio in the area.

Shin-Yokohama Prince Hotel (875 rooms, 42 floors, 2-min walk from the North Exit) is the most reliable large-capacity option, confirmed operating as of July 2026. From Shin-Yokohama to the Venue
Take the Sotetsu Shin-Yokohama Line to Seya Station (direct trains ~29 min; limited-express with Nishiya transfer saves 7–10 min). From Seya, the expo shuttle runs to the venue (about 2 km, ~10 min). Shuttle fares: ¥200 adult / ¥100 child (ages 1–11) one-way; disability discount ¥100/¥50. On peak days, the shuttles are designed to carry 44,000 passengers (42% of projected daily attendance). Reserve the shuttle through its own booking system — separate from your entry reservation — starting 2026-09-18. Reserve both inbound and outbound journeys.
Three other shuttle departure stations are confirmed (all ¥200 adult one-way): Mitsukyo Station (Sotetsu Main Line, ~4 km, ~15 min), Tokaichiba Station (JR Yokohama Line, ~6 km, ~25 min), and Minami-machida Grandberry Park Station (Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line, ~4 km, ~15 min).
Stay Tokyo-Side If You're Combining with Tokyo Sightseeing
If you're splitting the trip between the expo and Tokyo neighborhoods, the Sotetsu-Tokyu through-service (running since March 2023) means you don't need to change hotels. Trains on the Tokyu Toyoko and Meguro Lines run through to the Sotetsu Shin-Yokohama Line; transfer once at Nishiya for Seya. These through-trains tend to be less crowded than parallel JR routes — a local observation rather than a guaranteed rule, but useful on multiple expo days.
Shibuya as a Tokyo Base

Tickets, Entry Reservations, and Shuttle Booking
Entry to GREEN×EXPO 2027 requires two separate steps: buying a ticket and making a timed-entry date reservation. Advance adult tickets went on sale 19 March 2026 at ¥4,900 (on-the-day: ¥5,500). Timed-entry slot reservations open 2026-09-18 — exactly six months before opening day. Shuttle and parking reservations also open 2026-09-18 through a different system: complete your entry reservation first, then the association will direct you to transport booking. Non-smartphone booking options are under consideration for those who need them.
This is the first A1-class horticultural expo in Japan since the 1990 Osaka Flower Expo — 37 years. Spring visits (late March–May) will offer good weather and are likely to be somewhat less packed than late summer. Going early also makes hotel and entry slots easier to secure. Do I need to reserve the shuttle bus separately from my entry ticket?
Yes. Shuttle bus reservations and venue entry reservations are separate systems, both opening 2026-09-18. Complete your entry ticket purchase and timed-entry reservation first; the expo association will then direct you to the transport reservation system. Reserve both inbound and outbound shuttle journeys. Fare is ¥200 adult / ¥100 child one-way.
Can I get to the venue without a shuttle?
Seya Station is approximately 2 km from the venue entrance. Walking is possible but the pedestrian route is not optimized as of July 2026. The shuttle (¥200 adult) is the main option for most visitors. You can also use shuttle-equipped stations Mitsukyo, Tokaichiba, or Minami-machida Grandberry Park — all confirmed as of the July 2026 association announcement.
Is Shin-Yokohama better than Yokohama Station as a base?
For expo-focused visits, yes. The Sotetsu Shin-Yokohama Line gives you a direct connection to Seya without passing through Yokohama Station. From Yokohama Station you use the Sotetsu Main Line toward Seya, which adds a different platform and routing. Unless Yokohama sightseeing is on your agenda, Shin-Yokohama is the cleaner choice.
How far in advance should I book hotels and entry slots?
Entry slots open 2026-09-18 — mark that date. For Shin-Yokohama hotels, the available stock is limited relative to expected visitor numbers (15 million over six months), so booking several months ahead of expo-peak dates (spring and early autumn) is prudent. Visiting in March or April gives you more flexibility on both entry slots and accommodation, with pleasant spring weather as a bonus.
