The Star Hill Capitol Hotel Tokyu buffet runs on weekends from 3 October 2026 to 11 January 2027: an order-style spread of 140-plus dishes at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu's Chinese restaurant, Star Hill, with one braised whole shark fin per diner. Adults pay ¥18,975, seniors (65 and over) pay ¥16,445, and elementary-school children pay ¥9,487 — tax and service included. It only runs Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays, in a lunch service from 11:30 and two two-hour dinner sittings starting at 17:00 and 19:30, and pricing changes over the New Year period (31 December–3 January).

What the 2026–27 weekend buffet includes

The hotel's own plan page calls it the Special Treat Culinary Bliss Fair (the K&omacron;fuku Fair, in Japanese), and every price below already includes a 15% service charge and 10% consumption tax — nothing is added at the table.

Of the 140-plus dishes on Star Hill's 2026–27 weekend order-style buffet, 133 come from the restaurant's regular grand menu, and each diner gets one braised whole shark fin; elementary-school children pay ¥9,487, half the adult ¥18,975 (hotel's plan page, checked September 2026). That is exactly half the adult price, rounded down to the yen.

How an order-style buffet works

An order-style buffet (Ôdā shiki baikingu) is not a walk-up spread with steam trays: you order dishes from the menu and they are brought to your table, and the price is fixed while the menu is long enough that you keep ordering until the two-hour dinner clock — or the lunch window — runs out.

Star Hill has 86 seats and seven private rooms that hold up to 14 guests, which suits this kind of ordering: a table of six or eight working through round after round together, rather than one or two diners circling a buffet line. The hotel's plan page does not publish a per-order limit or a maximum number of dishes per round, so if you're planning around a tight schedule, ask when you book.

What I ate at Star Hill (November 2024, a table of eight)

I have not eaten the 2026–27 buffet. This section is a different visit — a campaign all-you-can-eat menu at the same restaurant in November 2024, with a party of eight. We sat at a round table with a turntable, the restaurant's garden lit up outside the window.

We had a cold appetizer plate — abalone, steamed chicken with a scallion-ginger sauce, and jellyfish — followed by a clear, light-brown soup, a stir-fry of white fish with wood ear mushroom, and mayonnaise-coated prawns.

Everything was good. Looking back, I'd put it level with Suiren, the hotel's Japanese restaurant on the 3rd floor, and read it as Chinese cooking in the Japanese-hotel tradition — Star Hill's own menu describes itself simply as "traditional Chinese cuisine," and I won't guess further than that.

That 2024 visit was a campaign all-you-can-eat menu; I don't know whether it used the same order-style format, and I didn't note the price accurately enough to repeat it here. None of what we ate that night tells you what's actually on the 2026–27 buffet — the dish list two years on is set by Star Hill's current grand menu, not by what happened to come out of the kitchen for a table of eight on one night in 2024.

Booking, children and groups

Star Hill is on the second floor of The Capitol Hotel Tokyu (see the hotel's own site for the full restaurant and facilities list), with 86 seats and seven private rooms for up to 14 guests. Reservations run through TableCheck or by phone at 03-3503-0871. Weekend dinner on the restaurant's regular menu also starts at 17:00, the same time as the first buffet sitting, so it's worth confirming which seating you're booked into when you reserve.

Elementary-school children pay ¥9,487 for the weekend buffet. The hotel's plan page doesn't publish a rate for children younger than elementary-school age, or say whether a children's chair is available — ask when you book if either applies to your family. If you're staying at the hotel rather than just eating there, The Capitol Hotel Tokyu's own rooms are worth checking directly, since current room rates aren't something we've verified for this article. For what a night in one of its Club Rooms is like, see our Capitol Hotel Tokyu review.

Buffet or a set plan: the options at The Capitol

The weekend buffet isn't the only way to eat well without leaving the building. Star Hill has other plans, and Suiren, the hotel's Japanese restaurant, is one floor up.

FAQ: Star Hill buffet at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu

When does the Star Hill weekend buffet run?

The 2026–27 edition runs Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays only, from 3 October 2026 to 11 January 2027. Lunch is 11:30–15:00 (last order 14:00), and dinner has two sittings, from 17:00 and from 19:30, each a two-hour seating.

How much does it cost, and is there a discount for children?

Adults pay ¥18,975, seniors 65 and over pay ¥16,445, and elementary-school children pay ¥9,487 — almost exactly half the adult price. All three figures already include a 15% service charge and 10% consumption tax.

Is shark fin actually included?

Yes — the hotel's plan page states each diner gets one braised whole shark fin as part of the buffet, alongside more than 140 dishes in total, 133 of which come from Star Hill's regular grand menu.

What kind of Chinese food does Star Hill serve?

Star Hill's own menu describes it only as "traditional Chinese cuisine," without naming a regional style. On a different visit in November 2024 I found it as good as Suiren, the hotel's Japanese restaurant, and would describe it as Chinese cooking in the Japanese-hotel tradition — a personal impression, not a claim the hotel makes.
