Not every regional Excel is that close: Matsue Excel Hotel Tokyu is a 3-min walk from the north exit of JR Matsue Station, a short walk but not a direct connection. We stayed there in July 2020, when the breakfast room made the Excel-over-REI case well: guests picked a Japanese set (grilled salmon, dashimaki tamago, natto, miso soup, rice) or a Western plate (omelette, croissant, fruit), both included.
