The Grand opened in 1991 on the PACIFICO Yokohama convention complex waterfront, making it one of the original harbor-view properties in Minato Mirai. It sits 5-min walk from Minatomirai Station. The convention complex location means quieter surroundings than the retail center of Minato Mirai, which is useful if you are traveling for business or a conference and want an uncrowded morning view. Every guest room sits on the 21st floor or higher, which means even the lowest room in the building clears most neighboring rooftops. The harbor-view side faces south over Yokohama Port; the mountain-view side delivers Mt. Fuji on clear mornings. Rooms run 27–33 m². The hotel has a sky pool that faces the harbor—a practical detail if you plan to use the pool at dawn or dusk and want the view to match. On the eastern side of central Yokohama, the Yamashita Park waterfront puts you right on the inner harbor rather than looking at it from a tower. Both hotels below are accessible from Motomachi-Chukagai Station on the Minatomirai Line.

Hotel New Grand

Built in 1927, Hotel New Grand is the most historically significant property in this guide. This 12-floor boutique hotel opened in February 2025 facing Yamashita Park directly—the newest property in this guide. If locking in a bay-facing room at booking is less critical than keeping the rate down, one Minato Mirai option works well at the lower end of the price range.

Hilton Garden Inn Yokohama Minatomirai

Reopened in April 2026 after a full renovation and rebrand from The Square Hotel Yokohama Minatomirai, this property offers bay-view rooms on upper floors at mid-range pricing. Rooms run 27 m² throughout the building. Both the lobby and the all-day dining restaurant face the harbor. Bay-view rooms here are not a named booking category; add a harbor-facing preference note at booking and restate it at check-in. The hotel is 7-min walk from Minatomirai Station. Practical Tips: What "Harbor View" Means at Booking

Understand the room category before you book. The clearest situation is where the hotel sells "Bay View" or "Harbor View" as a named category with a price premium—Yokohama Bay Hotel Tokyu and Mitsui Garden PREMIER both work this way. At hotels without a designated category, add a preference note at booking and call the hotel 48 hours before arrival to confirm the assignment.

Floor level matters as much as orientation. A harbor-facing room on floor 5 at a Minato Mirai tower may have partial sightlines blocked by lower rooftops. Floors 10 and above generally clear neighboring buildings and give a clean water view. Hotel New Grand's tower harbor views are confirmed from floor 15 upward in the tower section.

Bay direction in Minato Mirai. The harbor runs to the southeast of the main Minato Mirai hotel cluster. If you can view a compass-oriented map on the hotel's website, check that your room faces that direction—not the Sakuragicho rail yard, which is to the west.

Haze and season. Harbor views are clearest from October through February, when humidity drops and the horizon sharpens. Summer months—particularly July and August—can bring haze that flattens the distance.
