**Where to stay in Roppongi: for a stay built around trains rather than nightlife,** [**Hotel Villa Fontaine Grand Tokyo Roppongi**](https://www.trip.com/hotels/tokyo-hotel-detail-737058/villa-fontaine-tokyo-roppongi/?Allianceid=9711325&SID=327049682&trip%5Fsub1=where-to-stay-in-roppongi&trip%5Fsub3=D19699171&ref=nipponstays.com) **connects directly to Exit 2 of Roppongi-itchome Station on the Namboku Line, according to its official access page (checked October 2026).** It is not at Roppongi Station itself: the same page prints a 12-min walk from Roppongi Station Exit 5\. If you want a quiet night rather than the Roppongi crossing, [The Kitano Hotel Tokyo](https://www.trip.com/hotels/tokyo-hotel-detail-688169/the-kitano-hotel-tokyo/?Allianceid=9711325&SID=327049682&trip%5Fsub1=where-to-stay-in-roppongi&trip%5Fsub3=D19921771&ref=nipponstays.com) in Nagatacho is a 1-min walk from Nagatacho Station Exit 4\. I live in Tokyo, and for a quiet stay I would choose Nagatacho.

## Roppongi's bases at a glance

Roppongi, Akasaka and Nagatacho are three different bases, and which one fits depends on the station you will use every day. The table lists six hotels with the access wording printed on each hotel's own page, checked October 2026\. The Sleeps 4? column only records what the official page states, and "Not confirmed" means the official page checked gives no 4-guest room type.

| Hotel | Side of the area | Nearest station & exit (as printed) | Sleeps 4? | Best for |

| remm Roppongi | Midtown side | Roppongi Station (Hibiya Line); the page prints a 4-min walk to Tokyo Midtown and a 9-min walk to Roppongi Hills, no exit number | Not confirmed | Museums and Midtown on foot |

| Akasaka Granbell Hotel | Akasaka | Akasaka-mitsuke Station (Ginza and Marunouchi Lines), Exit 10, 2-min walk | Not confirmed | Shortest walk to Akasaka-mitsuke |
| The Kitano Hotel Tokyo | Nagatacho | Nagatacho Station (Yurakucho, Hanzomon, Namboku Lines), Exit 4, 1-min walk | Not confirmed | A quiet, upscale night |
| The Capitol Hotel Tokyu | Nagatacho | Tameike-Sanno Station (Namboku and Ginza Lines), Exit 6, direct connection; also Kokkai-gijidomae Station | Not confirmed | Families who want a lounge |

Of the six hotels in this guide (official pages checked October 2026), five print a direct connection or a walk of up to 5 min to a subway station: Kitano at a 1-min walk, Granbell at 2-min and Monterey at 5-min, and Villa Fontaine and Capitol with direct connections. The sixth, remm Roppongi, prints walks to landmarks but no station walk. Of the six, 1 prints a room for four: Villa Fontaine.

## The station side and Midtown

The Roppongi Station side suits you if museums and evenings out matter more than a quiet street. Roppongi Station is two stations in one, the Hibiya Line and the Toei Oedo Line, and their exits differ, so read [our Roppongi Station exits guide](https://www.nipponstays.com/roppongi-station-guide-exits/) before you pick a hotel by exit. It also explains why the National Art Center is faster from Nogizaka on the Chiyoda Line than from Roppongi Station.

remm Roppongi prints a 4-min walk to Tokyo Midtown and a 9-min walk to Roppongi Hills on its [official page](https://www.hankyu-hotel.com/hotel/remm/roppongi?ref=nipponstays.com). Villa Fontaine is the opposite case: its [access page](https://www.hvf.jp/roppongi/?ref=nipponstays.com) lists Roppongi-itchome Exit 2 as a direct connection, Tameike-Sanno Exit 13 as an 8-min walk, Kamiyacho Exit 4b as an 11-min walk and Roppongi Station Exit 5 as a 12-min walk. Pick it for the Namboku Line, not for a short walk to the crossing.

## Akasaka: more lines, fewer transfers

Akasaka works as a base when you want the Ginza and Marunouchi Lines from one station. [Hotel Monterey Akasaka](https://www.hotelmonterey.co.jp/akasaka/?ref=nipponstays.com) prints a 5-min walk from Akasaka-mitsuke Station and an 8-min walk from Aoyama-itchome. Its page also announces exterior painting work from June 2026 to October 2027, so check the dates you book. Akasaka Granbell Hotel prints Akasaka-mitsuke Exit 10 (the Big Camera side) at a 2-min walk on its [official page](https://www.granbellhotel.jp/akasaka/?ref=nipponstays.com).

This guide sticks to the access lines and walk times each hotel prints.

## Nagatacho: the quiet option

Nagatacho is the choice when the priority is a quiet night rather than the Roppongi crossing. I live in Tokyo, and for a quiet stay I would choose Nagatacho; the Kitano Hotel's location is quiet, and the Capitol Hotel Tokyu is also a good pick. The Kitano's [access page](https://www.kitanohotel.co.jp/tokyo/access/?ref=nipponstays.com) prints Nagatacho Station Exit 4 as a 1-min walk, and a 7-min walk from Akasaka-mitsuke.

Roppongi and Nagatacho are served by different lines (Hibiya and Oedo at Roppongi, Yurakucho, Hanzomon and Namboku at Nagatacho), so plan a transfer or a taxi between them. Details of each hotel are in [our Kitano Hotel Tokyo article](https://www.nipponstays.com/the-kitano-hotel-tokyo/) and [our Capitol Hotel Tokyu review](https://www.nipponstays.com/the-capitol-hotel-tokyu-review/). With children, see [the Capitol club lounge with kids](https://www.nipponstays.com/capitol-hotel-tokyu-club-lounge-with-kids/).

## From Haneda: what the hotels print

Getting from Haneda to this area is easiest to plan from the hotels' own access pages. The Kitano page gives a 40-min trip from Haneda by Tokyo Monorail, JR Yamanote Line and the Marunouchi or Yurakucho Line. The Capitol page says its airport limousine service from Haneda is currently suspended and offers hire cars through the Bell Captain Desk (checked October 2026).

For Airport Limousine Bus stops in Roppongi and Akasaka, check the operator's current timetable on the [Airport Limousine Bus site](https://www.limousinebus.co.jp/en/?ref=nipponstays.com), and see [our Narita versus Haneda hotel guide](https://www.nipponstays.com/narita-vs-haneda-airport-hotel/) if the airport decides your base.

## Which Roppongi base fits your trip

The right base depends on what you do each day, and the table below gives one pick per trip. For Harajuku or Omotesando as alternatives, see [our Harajuku guide](https://www.nipponstays.com/hotels-near-harajuku/) and [our Omotesando guide](https://www.nipponstays.com/hotels-near-omotesando/).

| Your trip | Base | Why |
| -------------------------- | ------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Museums and evenings out | Roppongi Station side (remm Roppongi) | Prints a 4-min walk to Tokyo Midtown and a 9-min walk to Roppongi Hills |
| Namboku Line trips | Villa Fontaine Grand Tokyo Roppongi | Direct connection to Roppongi-itchome Exit 2 |
| Ginza and Marunouchi Lines | Akasaka (Monterey or Granbell) | Akasaka-mitsuke at a 5-min and a 2-min walk |
| A quiet night | Nagatacho (The Kitano Hotel Tokyo) | Exit 4, a 1-min walk |
| Family with a lounge | The Capitol Hotel Tokyu | Direct connection to Tameike-Sanno Exit 6 |

## FAQ: where to stay in Roppongi

### Is Roppongi or Akasaka better to stay?

Choose Roppongi for museums and being near Tokyo Midtown, and Akasaka for the Ginza and Marunouchi Lines. Akasaka Granbell Hotel prints a 2-min walk from Akasaka-mitsuke Station Exit 10, while remm Roppongi prints a 4-min walk to Tokyo Midtown (checked October 2026).

### Is there a quiet hotel near Roppongi?

Yes: The Kitano Hotel Tokyo in Nagatacho, which prints a 1-min walk from Nagatacho Station Exit 4\. I live in Tokyo, and I find that location quiet. Nagatacho is on different subway lines from Roppongi Station, so allow for a transfer or a taxi.

### Which Roppongi station is closest to Villa Fontaine Grand Roppongi?

Roppongi-itchome Station, Exit 2, with a direct connection to the hotel on the Namboku Line. Roppongi Station Exit 5 is a 12-min walk, and Tameike-Sanno Exit 13 is an 8-min walk (official page, checked October 2026).

### Which exit of Roppongi Station is closest to Tokyo Midtown?

Our station guide gives Oedo Line Exit 8 for the basement level of Tokyo Midtown and Hibiya Line Exit 4a for the Midtown side, a 3-min walk. See [the Roppongi exits guide](https://www.nipponstays.com/roppongi-station-guide-exits/) for the full list.
