Tokyo triple rooms with three real beds are a short list, and the room name rarely tells you which hotel offers one. Of the 5 hotels checked, only [Hotel Gracery Shinjuku](https://www.trip.com/hotels/tokyo-hotel-detail-1841600/hotel-gracery-shinjuku-tokyo/?Allianceid=9711325&SID=327049682&trip%5Fsub1=tokyo-triple-rooms-three-real-beds&trip%5Fsub3=D19118101&ref=nipponstays.com) says on its room page that its Triple Room has three regular single beds (110cm each) "instead of a simple/folding bed". The next-best answer is a twin with a full-size extra bed (エキストラベッド), as at [Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo Ikebukuro](https://www.trip.com/hotels/tokyo-hotel-detail-1489108/hotel-metropolitan-tokyo-ikebukuro/?Allianceid=9711325&SID=327049682&trip%5Fsub1=tokyo-triple-rooms-three-real-beds&trip%5Fsub3=D19118535&ref=nipponstays.com), where three of the room types are listed for 3 guests with two 110cm × 200cm beds plus one extra bed. The condition that changes the answer is the third sleeper: a sofa bed or extra bed is acceptable for a short stay, but for three adults over several nights it is worth paying attention to the label before you pay.

## Four Kinds of "Third Bed" That Hotels Call a Triple

A Japanese hotel's "triple" can mean four different things, and only one of them is three permanent beds. This article uses the following terms, taken from the wording on the hotels' own pages.

- **Regular bed (常設ベッド):** a fixed bed frame with a mattress, the same as the other two. Hotel Gracery Shinjuku calls these 正規のシングルベッド (regular single beds).
- **Extra bed (エキストラベッド):** a movable full bed brought in and set up for a third guest. Keio Plaza lists its extra bed at 122cm × 195cm for the Superior room, which is a real mattress, but it takes floor space.
- **Sofa bed (ソファベッド):** a sofa that converts. Shinagawa Prince lists one at 87cm × 190cm for some Corner Twin rooms; that is narrower than any of the beds in the other rooms here.
- **Folding or simple bed (簡易ベッド):** a cot-like bed. None of the pages checked for this article describe their third bed this way, but it is what Gracery's page is ruling out.

## What "Bookable" Means When the Third Bed Is Not a Real Bed

Of the five Tokyo hotels in the table above, one states three regular beds on its room page, three sell a twin with a third bed added (extra bed or sofa bed), and one leaves the bed count unstated on the room page, as checked in October 2026.

Gracery's Triple Room is the clean case: it is a named room, it says 3 guests, and the Japanese page says it has regular single beds rather than 簡易ベッド. Everything else in the table is a twin that has been extended. That is not a bad thing for a night or two, and the Metropolitan Ikebukuro listing is clear about it by putting "+ Extra Bed" in the room name, so the bed type is visible in the room name before you book. The weaker spot is the sofa bed at Shinagawa Prince: the page lists both a sofa bed and an extra bed for the 17–27F Corner Twin and does not say which one you get, so the third bed type is Unknown until the hotel confirms it.

Keio Plaza shows a different problem: the 22–27F rows of its Plaza Deluxe South page list "Triple 110cm × 203cm (Hollywood Twin)" with a 110cm × 188cm extra bed for 3–4 guests, and the page does not explain whether that means three beds or two beds sharing a headboard plus an extra bed. We left that room out of the table for that reason. Keio Plaza's Luxury Family Room (31–32F, 46.3m²) is listed as four 120cm × 203cm beds and a 90cm × 195cm sofa bed for 3–5 guests, so it works for three adults but is a different (larger) product.

Two things we could not confirm. None of the pages above publish a fee for the extra bed, so any price you see is a booking-site price rather than a hotel-stated one. And Tokyu Stay's FAQ is undated, so the Shibuya triple claim should be confirmed with the hotel before you rely on it. Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku was checked and left out because its official English page lists only single, twin and double rooms.

## What to Ask When You Book

If the room name says "twin" or "triple" and does not say what the third bed is, send one message before paying. These lines match the wording on the Japanese pages:

- **3名で、ベッド3台のお部屋をお願いします。（ソファベッドではなく）** ("Three guests, a room with three beds, please, not a sofa bed.")
- **3人目のベッドは、エキストラベッドですか、ソファベッドですか？** ("Is the third bed an extra bed or a sofa bed?")
- **エキストラベッドの幅と追加料金を教えてください。** ("Please tell me the width and any extra charge for the extra bed.")

Send these to the hotel by email or through the booking site's message function a few days ahead, and ask for the answer in writing. For other pre-booking questions, [Japan Hotel Questions Before You Book](https://www.nipponstays.com/japan-hotel-questions-before-you-book/) has a longer list, and [Hotel Room Sizes in Japan Explained](https://www.nipponstays.com/hotel-room-sizes-in-japan-explained/) helps you judge whether three beds will fit in the floor area stated. Connecting rooms are a separate question that this article does not cover.

This article is for three adults who need three sleeping places in one Tokyo room. Other situations are handled elsewhere.

## FAQ: Triple Rooms in Tokyo

### Which Tokyo hotel lists three regular beds in a triple room?

Hotel Gracery Shinjuku's Triple Room (28m²) is listed for 3 guests with three single beds of 110cm each, and its Japanese room page says they are regular beds instead of folding beds (checked October 2026). It is the only one of the five hotels in this article to say so on its room page.

### How wide is the extra bed at Keio Plaza and Shinagawa Prince?

Keio Plaza lists a 122cm × 195cm extra bed with its Superior room (Main Tower 15–21F). Shinagawa Prince lists a 97cm × 195cm extra bed or an 87cm × 190cm sofa bed for the Corner Twin on floors 17–27F. Both figures are from the hotels' pages as read in October 2026.

### Is a twin with an extra bed okay for three adults?

It can be, if the extra bed is a full mattress and the room is large enough. Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo Ikebukuro's three extra-bed twins are 27m² with two 110cm beds, so the room is tight; Keio Plaza's Superior is 33.7m², which gives more floor space. Check the area figure as well as the bed width.

### Does Tokyu Stay have a real triple room?

The chain's FAQ says the Shibuya, Monzen-nakacho and Yotsuya stores have a triple with three beds, and lists other stores, such as Nishi-Shinjuku and Meguro-Yutenji, as twin plus extra bed. The Shibuya room page itself lists a 30m² Deluxe Twin for 3 guests with a 1,100mm bed and does not give the bed count, so confirm it before you book.
